Saturday, May 10th the Madame CJ Walker building hosted the annual Asante Children’s Theatre, Prep for Life workshop for kids.
The focus for Saturday’s workshop emphasized vocal projection.
Children got to showcase their projection skills vocalizing popular songs like Peter Piper and Sally Sells Seashells. Kids enjoyed the repetitive discourse as they incorporated dance moves and ad-libs.
Facilitators grouped work-shoppers into four smaller groups and assigned a scene objective for each group.
The goal was centered around teamwork. Working together to represent the facilitators topic of choice in a theatric scene.
The kids had to organize their objective to showcase at the end of the two hour workshop.
Topics given by facilitators included, acts of selfishness, attending a family gathering, cooking dinner, and teamwork.
At the end of the workshop parents were invited in Walker classroom to watch the kids performance.
